The Story:

There's just something so elegant yet whimsical about a ribbon choker, making it the perfect accessory for the season. The Evening Star, in luscious gold with iridescent blue and pearly white accents, is a beautifully delicate focal point against the scarlet organza ribbon.

This Evening Star is inspired by more classical star shapes, which also feature in some parol designs. Besides the traditional parol shapes, I also wanted to create a few pieces that weren't too Christmassy, so you could also wear them any time of the year.

Every Christmas, homes and buildings all over the country are adorned with parols, star-shaped lanterns which represent the Star of Bethlehem that guided the three kings to find the baby Jesus.

The word parol comes from the Spanish farol, which means 'lantern'. During the Spanish colonial period, the lanterns were used to light the way of the nine-day Christmas novena procession. At the time, the parol was a simple rectangular or oblong shape. It wasn't until the American colonial period that it acquired its iconic five-pointed star shape, which inspired this collection.

Size: Ribbon: 30 inches. If changing to chain: 16 inches, plus 2 inch extender chain.

Materials: Glass seed beads, organza ribbon, gold-tone stainless steel jump ring. Stainless steel findings make these safe for sensitive skin.
