Libgos Earrings
The Story:
Libgos are wild termite mushrooms my family loves. They are harvested near bamboo groves in the north of Cebu following days of lightning storms. While the mushrooms can appear at any time of the year, their peak season is between August and September. And when they do we get boxes and boxes full of fresh mushrooms that are cooked into a delicious stew.
The Fruits of the Philippines is a collection of popular Filipino fruits, including mango, guava, makopa, and more! Each little fruit is inspired by traditional folktales about each fruit’s origin. Read them here.
Each piece is handwoven by yours truly using tiny glass beads. It took me nearly 6 months to perfect each fruit, as I really wanted to get the proportions of our native fruits just right. This collection is a labor of love, and my way of sharing Filipino stories with the world.
