This collection is inspired by our popular native fruits and the legends behind them.
The Story:
The legend of the mango tell the tragic story of Aganhon, a gentle young woman forced into an unwanted marriage by her father. Rather than give her heart to someone she didn't love, Aganhon ended her life. The heart-shaped mango is all that was left of her.
The Fruits of the Philippines is a collection of popular Filipino fruits, including mango, guava, makopa, and more! Each little fruit is inspired by traditional folktales about each fruit’s origin. Read them here.
Each piece is handwoven by yours truly using tiny glass beads. It took me nearly 6 months to perfect each fruit, as I really wanted to get the proportions of our native fruits just right. This collection is a labor of love, and my way of sharing Filipino stories with the world.
Size: Drops 2 cm
Materials: Glass seed beads, waxed thread, stainless steel earring studs or hoops. Stainless steel findings make these safe for sensitive ears.
