Pineapple Earrings
The Story:
The story of the pineapple is what happens when your mom says to "look with your eyes, not your mouth". Young Pina was a lazy girl whose mother despaired of her. In anger, she accidentally curses Pina, turning her into a fruit with a thousand eyes.
The Fruits of the Philippines is a collection of popular Filipino fruits, including mango, guava, makopa, and more! Each little fruit is inspired by traditional folktales about each fruit’s origin. Read them here.
Each piece is handwoven by yours truly using tiny glass beads. It took me nearly 6 months to perfect each fruit, as I really wanted to get the proportions of our native fruits just right. This collection is a labor of love, and my way of sharing Filipino stories with the world.
