The Story:

There are many stories about the stars in Filipino mythology. For the ancient Visayans, the stars represent the goddess Lisuga, the youngest and only granddaughter of the gods Kaptan and Magwayen.

The stars played a very important role for our ancestors. Ancient Visayans used the stars to navigate the seas, and as guides for the planting season. The babaylans (priestesses) also consulted the stars to foretell the future.

Artist Notes: Likalibutan, the eldest brother of Liadlaw and whose body was made of rock, hardly ever features in art or, in this case, jewelry, despite him having a crucial role in the Visayan creation myth. So here I've paired amethyst stones with the star charm to represent this god of the earth.

Amethyst is a healing stone that clears away negativity and brings clarity, which align with the star goddess, Lisuga, and what she represented to our ancestors.

Size: Drops 5 cm.

Materials: Stainless steel charm, natural amethyst stones, stainless steel post and backings. Stainless steel findings make these safe for sensitive ears. All stones are natural and may vary in size, shape, and color from the product photos.
